Born in 1979 and Franco-Norwegian, Jonathan Châtel lives and works in Paris, Brussels, and Oslo. He studied Philosophy, Theater and completed a PhD in Theatrical Studies on Ibsen. He cofounded the magazine Geste and also writes numerous articles for other French and Norwegian publications. A prolific writer, he worked on short film scripts, news reports on Norway and published a graphic novel, Kirkenes, but he is best-known as stage director. He has staged plays by Ibsen at National Theatre in Vanves (2012) and at Official Festival d’Avignon in 2015. He is currently the Dean of the Drama department of Louvain-la-Neuve University (Belgium), and is staging a play by Ibsen at the Théâtre de Vanves.
